Flashback Friday: School Days

So which one is my real school Picture? Bet it is hard to tell :)

Do you ever wonder how things get packed? How they end up in your suitcase? Where they came from? Some how my BYU Id followed me back to the land where it came from. Kind of Funny.

Argggghhhh....

Ok since this is so fun to do, can you find the errors in the teacher's comments?

I was thinking maybe she could have just said, "G-Man when you do your spelling words in sentence please number them." or how about "Great sentences, next time please number them, or if you want to turn it into a paragraph, don't space them individually on lines, making a list of sentences like I asked you to do."

Ok Dude I am just bugged...and man where is her proper punctuation? If you are going to ask a question please put a question mark? Use proper tenses? I don't know, how about following your own criticism in your marks!

Out of the Mouth of Babes

Seems like G-Man has been front page lately but well he is kind of like that.

This morning we were eating breakfast and he was getting his daily reading in. Well I asked him some questions and his answers were as general as "because he is nice." And then I asked him if he even read it. And he says to me "Mom I did, but my brain is so full of knowledge from Texas I just don't have room for all this new information. My memory can't hold anymore information." I wonder if this is something he would say to his teacher??

Then just a few moments ago I said "I better got check on T-Rex he has been asleep for awhile." G-man pipes in "What if he is dead? He could be." I am like thanks! Nice thought. Geez!

Tuesday night he asked me if he could rearrange his room, he gets this gene from me. I told him not tonight. Then he mentioned he had already moved his bed and would like to put it under the window. To which I replied "No you can't put it under the window, one of you could be knocked out of it, and fall to the ground and die." (so maybe the dead idea came from me.) He goes back to his room and then comes running back to me.

"I can't sleep in my room, I am afraid I will jump on my bed, and then jump out the window and die."

"Is your bed by the window?"

"no."

"You should be ok. Just don't jump out the window."

"Okay. But now that you said it, I am afraid.

"Sorry. I love you go to sleep."

Wordless Wednesday: Well not so wordless...

If you can't read it section B says write two telling sentences about your school:

G-man writes : I drive my teacher crazy.

(wonder how often he hears that)

Scentsy Party!!! (Online)

I don't know if you have heard of Scentsy, but it is one of my favorites wickless candles. The scents are amazing and so many to choose from. They are beautiful warmers that don't get too hot, and can be left on all day. I love mine so much I had to recently buy one since coming to Hawaii to make our place smell more homey and less well humid.

Anyway so I am hosting a "catalog" party that you are all invited to join. If you go to www.scentsy.com/sfarley and click on place order you will see my name as a party.

Everything in the Scentsy summer Catalog is on Sale! Everything-- except the Double the Scentsy Multi pack-- is 10% off! So if you have been thinking about buying, hurry and stock up!

As of September the prices on the warmers go up $5. They have some great new things coming in Sept., but are doing a Scentsational Sale for August!

I have an online catalog party you can order from. Here is how you do it... Go to www.scentsy.com/sfarley click on place order and you will see my name in a square below... click on that and you will be able to browse the catalog and enter your order. If you want the product to come directly to you, make sure and mark that! Otherwise it will come to me and I will get it to you! If you have any questions please comment or email me or if you know my number call me.

The party and the sale will be closed on August 30th. So act now!! And anyone who orders something online will be entered to win a pack of my favorite sents :) So please place an order, I know you will love your warmer as much as I do.

Leave a comment after you order so I can put you in the drawing for another pack of scents on me. K!
Thanks and have a fabulous night!!

Fisher of Men

So today while I was busy doing something, I hear little T-Rex screaming. He had been on the balcony (lanai) for a few minutes. When I went into the kitchen I was met by T-rex with a fishing hook-still on the pole- in his pants. There he sat on the floor crying, and attempting to get it off of his pants.

For a few moments I tried working the hook out, with his shorts still on, when I realized I should just take his shorts off. Yeah I don't think too quickly on my feet. Once I released him from his pants. He stopped crying.

I worked pretty hard to remove the hook out of his pants, but was having a hard time because it kept pulling the pole. Then, again not so quick on my feet, I cut the line, releasing the hook from the pole. Then with a little more wiggle room with the hook, I got it out of his shorts with out too many holes in his pants.

How do you fishers take those hooks out of those fishes' mouths?

And how do fish get away???

Anyway then I decided to take the pole back to the porch and "hide" it again. But the pole was tangled in one of our beach mat's edging, which I spent some time trying to untangle from the pole. Until again, I know I am slow, call me a little absentminded, I cut the fringe off of the mat, to release the mat, and then was able to untangle the pole from the mat stuff. Once it was off the pole, I then was able to pull it (the mat) from its entanglement with the boogie board, that was suppose to be hiding all the stuff.

I wish I had a picture. But again, I was a little concerned about unhooking my little guy.

What I want to know was how did it all get tied up and tangled together??

How did he do it?

If your are going to grade my son harshly....

You may or may not know that I am a teacher by trade and degree. It has been awhile since I have been in my own classroom, unless you count teaching the 5 year old Sunday School class-which I am surprisingly liking the bunch and thought to myself for a brief moment that I think I might like going back to teach- for a very brief moment that is. I try hard not to complain about teachers because I know it is hard work. I so far have been really happy with the education my children are getting. I am for the most part content with the teachers my two have this year.

BUT I do have a big beef about G-Man's teacher and her grading and comments. I should be saving more of her comments on his homework and assignments but I have gotten so upset with them that I have thrown them in the trash. Maybe I am getting a little too emotional over some minor school work but when a teacher writes in bright red "Did you even study?" after we had spent many long painful hours trying to finish all the homework, oh a whole other post, I get a little frustrated to say the least.

Anyway so today this came home.

Now I understand circling the misspelled words especially when he had already written the words. I am not concerned about that one.

Yes he could have elaborated more on how the boy is nice, but I tell you what sometimes just being a nice friend is enough, isn't it??

But what gets me is her miss use of the word to...she should have written too...and I so wanted to take out my red pen and circle her misspelling of too and send it back to her. But I contained myself and just posted it here on my blog for all you to read.

Monday Mumblings: Spam, and not the kind they eat in Hawaii.

According to all my spam (about 200 emails a day) I am:

Looking to become a CSI person- at some point in my life before Gregory was born, and before CSI came out I wanted to be a crime scene photographer, but was talked out of doing the job by the Police Chief who asked me if I had ever smelt a 2 week old rotting dead body? The idea of the smell turned me off. Too bad TV can not do interactive smell :)

Looking for a fling: Yeah not looking for a fling!

Over 55 and need AARP: not sure where I filled something out asking for retirement things or whatever but yeah I am getting hit up with that, I know I have several gray hairs but I am a ways away from needing AARP

Looking to refinance my house on Thome Valley Drive: Hello people I sold it about 4 months ago.

Need to lose weight: OK you got me there! But really who in American isn't looking to try the Green Tea that Oprah swears by??

Wanting to go to school to get a degree: Some how my college degree didn't get registered on the spamming lists. Though I have thought about going to school to become a nurse.

The last known possible Relative: Some how I am related to a bunch of millionaires in Africa who have attorneys in London that I need to claim money from immediately.

Looking to consolidate my debts: well we actually don't need to consolidate them I just need to claim my long lost relative's money and pay them all off.

The next winner of a Dell Laptop: all I have to do is sign my life away and I will become a winner of a new laptop. Maybe that is where I am getting all this spam by filling out all those forms to win those laptops I never win :) (no I haven't filled out the forms nor tried to win one.)

So what are you according to your Spam?

What do you Remember about me?

So several of my friends have done this on their blog and I am feeling a need of some nostalgia..so indulge me please!!
(that means leave a comment, I know you are here reading,
and I have seen you comment on other friends blogs, so please...I am asking nicely)
So here is what you do it really is simple, and takes but a moment of time.
Leave a comment about a memory of me...yeah anything you remember about me.
That's all nothing fancy.
Even if you are a virtual friend, there has got to be some reason you come back here for more :)
And if you do a similar post on your blog I will return the favor.
So simple.
Comment with a memory or two or really as many as you want.

A little Brown Girl in a little Grass Skirt...

So if you are reading this first, you are missing out on the fun filled day we had today. Well the last entry was only until 2 PM....and not to bore you with more details other than the fact that G_Man was so BORED!! He threw a fit I had never seen.

What is up?

Anyway on to a better note.

After all the fits were thrown, we headed to pick Eric up from work and go to Bee's first Hula Performance. WOO HOO! This was performed after just two classes. The first class she just stood and stared. The second class she smiled and tried to follow along. She did wonderful for just two lessons and doesn't she look so cute, hard to not love her. She smiled so much up on "stage". And for your viewing pleasure a little video.

It is kind of hard to see here but she is the second row in blue. And for some still life pictures cuz I know you want some, cuz she is just gosh darn cute here you go.

The Road to Hell is Paved with Good Intentions

I am sure you have heard that saying more than once in your life and associate it with some kind of life lesson. I sure got a life lesson. Yep, my friends today my intentions were good my experience was well you know.

I decide since Eric had to leave for work again at 6 AM, and I was going to have yet another day alone with the kids, that I'd make it fun. If you read my past kids' survey you may understand that my kids kind of think I am no fun, and that all I'd like to do is sleep and don't ever make them laugh. I try.

G-Man has been begging to go to this really cool skate park down the street. Well I thought how about take a walk there, bike around the skate park and come home. After mentioning my great ideas, he wanted to invite a friend. Fine. I like their mom. We called them and decided to meet in the parking garage.

Things are going ok as we wait in the garage, other than G-man not paying attention and almost running into a driving car. Then we saw one of Bee's friends and invite them to join us. So we wait some more for them to get their walking shoes on and bikes. Well we finally all gather together and head out. Not more than 100 yards, Bee's chain breaks. I try to fix it while the clouds decide to cry with her and dump buckets of tears on us.

While getting drenched I tell Bee we can't fix it and that we need to put it back in the garage. But she decides to walk the bike, until I run after her. While my friends try to keep the babies in the stroller dry, the other kids take off to the light. I throw the bike in the garage and we are on our way. Only to have Bee run over by her friend on a bike. And the screams begin. Though the sun had already come out to start to dry and heat us up.

We get to the skate park with only a few crashes and a few more tears, to only find it filled with skaters and a clear sign "NO BICYCLES". So we decide to head to another park that has lots of hills and the kids can create their own skate park. All the kids are on board for this. Well another mile or so we get to this other park. Things are looking great. Kids play. They have fun.

T-Rex is letting us know he is for sure done and tired. I think we all were a little hot and tired and thirsty and hungry. At least I was. We decide to head home. I am not sure what happened but I think almost every child had a melt down. Bee who had to walk was in and out of the stroller, G-Man and his friend kept riding ahead. The other kids were just having a rough time at riding.

But then the fit of all fits hit. I should have known because Bee likes to do that when she is tired and thirsty. She calls me over to see something. I tell her to just keep walking. Cuz I am tired. Then she ask me to come and see again. So to appease her I head back a half block to see. There was some smooshed fruit on the ground. I tell her what it is and say lets get going. She stops, arches her back and starts screaming because she wants one of the fruits from the tree. I tell her no and tell her we need to get home. Well that didn't fly in her little 5 year old mind, oh no. She comes running up behind me screaming, as I keep walking. Then WHAPPP! SMACK on my back with a huge stick, the welt is still there to prove it. I turn around grab her arm and say "you little brat." I know not the choicest of words but better than others I could have used. I grab her stick, throw it in the bushes, and tell her to never to do that again.

I am sure the cars on the road, and my friend with me for that matter, think I am beating her or something. But I just got up and walked away and she came running after me screaming, trying to get in the stroller. I was told by her pediatrician to ignore her screaming fits. So I said, I guess that is not ignoring her, that if she wants something she needs to tell me in a calm voice and I keep strolling. Well she attempts to get in the stroller, and I am not stopping for her fits. So she gets knocked over by the stroller and the screaming only gets louder. I check to see if she is ok and continue on my way.

Anyway she pretty much screams the whole way home. Once we get home she falls asleep on the couch.

Once home everyone cools down, naps a bit, and I think lets try another outing. So we go to pick up some Burger King and head to the beach park for a picnic. Nothing too tragic or exciting happens there, other than after saying "don't get in the water" everyone leaves wet and sandy... oh well what can I expect.

We pile in the car and I think they are behaving well. They are well fed. I can get in and out of the store real quick to pick up a few things. Ok I was wrong. I think each and everyone well not T-Rex told me I was a mean mom after I told them to put things away. Mind you they were given the "don't even ask me for anything" speech several times. At one point when Bee turned on the eye faucets I put my hands up and said "Lets just leave." Which was followed by "Oks we'll put them back." But I think it was because everyone in the store was standing and staring at the crazy lady and all her kids, not because they really thought I would just leave my cart there. I really did need the things. At this point even T-Rex was trying to climb out of the cart and screaming, he and Bee make such sweet loud harmony.

I leave the store, kids crying. Me almost in tears. And as I was getting them all strapped in the car, a nice older lady says in all her kindness. "I sure don't envy you. I thought my two were bad. I couldn't even imagine having four." I assure her that it is "wonderful", over all the screams and attempts to get out of the car seats were happening in the back ground.

Yeah so here I am in what I like to call my own personal little Hell, well at least my intentions were good. Oh and I am not the only one here, Bee has assured me that life is really miserable and no one loves her. So yeah I think we have made it to hell.

And the Award goes to:

ME!! ME!! I am such a dork, two of my friends have given me awards. I was so excited to get them, still am, but have been putting off posting about it because deciding to whom to give them to is hard. See I really only read a few blogs, and well a little more than a few but to narrow them down to a few is very difficult. So before I get to the who gets them let me tell you the whats.

Tonya, one of my few "stranger" blog's that I read, How did we meet? Anyway, I think I found her through a friend and commented on her blog and long story short we met. She was so very kind to award me with this award.
Thank you so much Tonya.

Patricia my friend from back home, I say that because I have since moved, if you missed that! She and I met through church. She has two blogs, one posting her amazing scrapbook designs and layouts and the other is filled more with her daily adventures of being a mom who also homeschools and is dealing with adding to the struggles of motherhood with MS. Thanks so much Patricia for this award.

So to whom do I award these awards:

For the first- Beacon of Hope-The rules are as follows
You must...
1. Choose 5 blogs that you consider deserving of this award that are inspirational, uplifting, and leave you with a feeling of hope or cheer that contribute to the blogging community, no matter what language.
2. Link them on your blog.
3. Link to the person you received the award from.
4. Leave a comment on the blogs you nominated.
5. Add this link Beacon of Hope as the origin of this award.
6. Post these rules.

So my choices are as follow- and I was going to write something descriptive but decided you go to their blogs to find out why:

Now for the second one- award ceremonies always drag on don't they:

So there is my list. If you have been given this award, here are your instructions:

Pay It Forward

My dear friend Katherine, whose blog is private so it makes no point to link it back to her, but she sent me a bunch of beautiful homemade cards. I should post them but I have been putting off this post long enough, and I'd have to take a picture of them and then upload and well..I want to get on with paying it forward. Just know they are gorgeous and I appreciated them.

Here is how it works, someone made something for Katherine, in turn she made something for three people, and therefore I am going to make something wonderful for three lucky people. All you have to do is comment that you'd like to participate. See if you get picked you need to be willing to make something for three people. Don't worry you don't have to have a blog, or even mail it to anyone, you can make something for your neighbor or your child's teacher. Just have to make something and give it to someone out of the blue.

So who wants to play? Let me just tease you a bit, it will be something very Hawaiian :)

You game? You have until August 31 to leave a comment. Link this to your blog and leave a second comment giving you a chance to win even more.

Let the giving begin!

So I am trying to earn a little extra cash...

I decided to see if possible I could earn a little extra cash by posting some little ads here and there on my page. And well since December I have earned a whopping 3.24 which I can't claim until I hit the huge amount of $10. Anyway so the ads are suppose to be geared towards my site. And for awhile they seemed to be (well the one little one I had way down at the bottom--how is that gonna bring in a little extra cash, not so easily--hence the new ones.) about families and kids stuff, but I noticed now they all are about dog poop stuff HUMM.....

Have I changed the content of my blog?

Is it really that crappy???

Then I remembered my title of my blog, though it says NO dog, it says dog none the less. So you readers out there that need some poop scooping items, well you know where to look.

Also I added tonight infolinks, which finds key words in my writings and links it to ads. If you have the desire to check them out feel free. I am not forcing you too, just letting you know they are there. But again, I don't choose the ads, and I am just seeing if I can double my income :) But just letting you know that is what you may be seeing and I really am not selling adult videos. And I am looking into seeing if I can change what ads pop up because I thought I put something in there about kid friendly things.

And always don't let the TIDE of the Charmin' Fat Boy sweep you away! (just seeing what the infolinks might pick up)

Trip to Waimea Falls

I don't think I spelled that right but oh well we had fun none the less.

We decided at about a quarter to seven (in the morning) to go up to the Falls. After dressing the kids, and grabbing a few essentials we hit the road. Stopping at a local cafe to enjoy some eggs, rice and spam...well no one got spam but its sister bacon.

We happened upon the Grand Re-Opening with lots of fun family events. The kids had a blast and it was fun to get out and do some touring. The best part was the swim in the falls. Water chilled us but we survived. Even T_rex got in and swam.

We then hit the North Shore, and while the two youngest slept the older two and Dad went swimming in the ocean. Then off for some yummy Mexican. Followed by a stop at the eye doctors to pick up G-Man's much needed glasses. We will see how school went today.

My Daily Writing Prompts

Don't know if you know, but anyway I am part of a writing group. We spend ten minutes a day free writing about a certain topic or word or picture. Anyway I post those on another blog. So if you are ever feeling like you want something to read and critic, please visit my writing blog.

Remember it really is a scrap pad, I never go back and edit or re-read. But anyway thought you might be interested in something to read on those nights you wake up at one in the morning browsing the internet...you know, one of those nights you can come here.

What Happens While I Blog and the Kids Don't have School!

Ice gets put in a bucket, spilling ice and water all over the floor, then dumped and swept off the back patio.
(the ice dumping in the bucket caught my attention to the messes going on.)

Toys dumped all over their room as they search for the perfect thing to play with.
I mean come on isn't the TV enough for entertainment these days?
T-Rex decides Pretzels make a great dance floor or something! And since T-Rex did the mess "all by himself" I am amazed at how my little one year old climbed on top of the kitchen counter and climbed to a top shelf pulled the pretzels out , crossed the kitchen floor, carrying that whole Costco sized bag all by himself and made it with out spilling it until in front of the TV. Amazing, truly amazing.
Come on who did it?
"Not me"
So I guess T-rex is really a climber.
Baby Olympics here he comes.

Two thinks its great to help him dump the rest of the bag, I mean who wouldn't! Especially when there is a photo opp! She even stops to say "Cheese" for the picture.

G-man builds a fort behind the couches, can't really see it but the blankets connect the two couches leaving a little fort area to hide behind and dump more toys.
So who is ready to help clean up??
"It's not my fault."
"I didn't do it."
Well everyone gets to clean up no one's messes!
Care to join us??
You get to go swimming after it is all done.

I Love my...

new hand held Cuisinart Mixer!

It is awesome. I love it most because it makes my morning shakes (FIXX) so thick and rich and creamy. Reminds me of a yummy Frosty from Wendy's, seriously.

When I wake up I put 8 oz of skim milk in its handy cup, add 1/4 frozen banana, handful of blueberries, some ice and of course FIXX mix, and blend away until I have the most delicious thick shake, that keeps me full til lunch.

The great thing is FIXX has many awesome ingredients, like spinach, pineapple, watermelon, lime cherry, pear, mango, strawberry, celery, parsley, cucumber...ok maybe all those fruits and vegetables sound scary but really this shake is loaded with tons of vitamins and minerals and natural fruits and veggies. Plus any Weight Watcher users out there it is only 2 points (i heard somewhere). FIXX really is the best shake/meal replacement I have tried.

(I even made my kids their own shake this morning using NesQuick and the FIXX was tastier in my humble opinion)

Anyway I decided that one of you should have one.

It is simple really.

Summer Fun-Wordless Wednesday

I'm entering this in a "Summer Fun" photo contest at 5 Minutes for Mom. I am having a hard time picking a picture that just describes summer. Here in Hawaii seems like every picture says summer. But when I saw this one of Two and her buddy. I decided nothing describes summer more than swimming and "summer love", not that they are in love but HE was nice enough to share his towel with her, and nothing says love more than sharing. We sure miss our little Texas Buddy.
